Whispering Roots Farm is a developing family-run permaculture farm focused on regenerating land through sustainable farming practices to produce high-quality, nutrient-dense, and ethically raised natural food.

Our initial focus is on developing infrastructure and soil quality, while raising silvopastured pigs, as well as rabbits. Operations are currently small, however, we are actively breeding animals, building, and planning to quickly scale and expand product categories.

We appreciate your interest in our small family farm as we embark on this journey of respecting land and animals while producing nutrient-rich, ethically grown, and harvested food in a holistic way.

Our Pork

Our heritage bred pigs are mainly Berkshire crossed with Yorkshire and Old Spot. The Berkshire breed is prized for high-quality, tender, well-marbled gourmet meat. The Yorkshire are highly muscular, with large litters, high milk production, and maternal instincts. The Spots are versatile, fast-growing pigs known for good feed efficiency especially while foraging. These breeds create an excellent cross that is well suited to our farm and environment.

From our forest pastures to your freezer! Our heritage pork is available by side several times each year. At Whispering Roots Farm, we believe happy animals produce the highest quality food. They spend their days roaming freely through rotating forest pens, enjoying fresh air, non-GMO feed, and plenty of belly rubs.

About our Farm

Whispering Roots Farm is on 30 acres of beautiful forested land, just minutes from Qualicum Beach.

We believe in sustainable and regenerative farming practices to restore the land, while producing a quality yield.

We grow our crops without use of harmful pesticides or herbicides, and use only natural fertilizers to amend the soil.

Our pigs are content as they rotate through forested pastures, rooting and wallowing around the land while fertilizing as they go. Their diet is balanced with locally sourced grains, fodder (sprouted seeds), local whey, eggs, and windfall fruit.

We grow, produce, and raise our animals humanely so we (and you) can eat delicious healthy food without guilt. Happy and healthy animals are more delicious and more nutritious!
