Why free range pastured rabbits?
Rabbits are a nutritious and delicious food source.
- Higher Protein: Rabbit meat has a very high protein content, and high concentrations of essential amino acids.
- Mineral Rich and Healthy: Rabbit meat is richer in calcium and phosphorus, while lower in fat and cholesterol than most other meats. [source]
- Eco-friendly Production: Rabbits convert feed to meat very efficiently compared to almost any other livestock.
- Quality Taste: Quite similar to chicken, rabbit is considered a white meat, with a mild flavor and nuanced taste that sets it apart.
Our rabbits have their main house they utilize during the night, however, they spend their days in a lush area that is mixed between pasture and forested spaces, supporting our rotational grazing practices while allowing them to run, burrow, forage, and explore.
Their diet includes primarily hay, vegetation from foraging, a grain mixture, and some produce as well as other tasty treats.
We raise mixed-breed rabbits, incorporating several high-performing breeds such as New Zealand White Eyed Rabbits, French Lops, and Californians.
We have only recently started raising rabbits, and are not yet using a commercial butcher to enable us to sell meat to you. If you’re interested in purchasing live rabbits to butcher yourselves, please contact us today!
